Looking back at my planning
When looking back on my planning i can see that not everything went the same on the day as i decided to add in my voiceover i felt that taking out allot of the script would add in more tension, and the voiceover felt allot more dramatic i also cut out allot of the footage even though i filmed it i felt it was too long and dragged the story line out allot more and took away the focus of the film.

Storyboard For Final Title Sequence
This is a photo of me working on my blog |
I have choosen my first initial idea, as i feel it is more realistic to the audience watching, as it is something that happens daily and is so terrible and shocking.
These are a rough outline of the shots that will be in my final title sequence, and in roughly the right order.

Pitch For Main Title Sequence
Idea 1- Thriller
My first idea is a thriller, where there is a young girl left home when her mother and father go out for the night, she is 'normally' sensible. It is late at night and dark, she gets talking to a young boy over the internet (facebook) that she knows through a friend, on the other hand the audience are lead to believe something different as they can see an older mans figure (the boys father). The young girl plans to meet the 'boy' at a near by park for a while as he says he really likes her. The girl has no idea what is in store!!!
To enhance the suspense and horror into my opening sequence i would use allot of close ups, also i would have points throughout the sequence where i will play eery music to enhance the drama.
Idea 2-
My second idea would be a horror of two young girls moving in to a new house with them being very excited and have told a man they had meet out the night before, without realising from being drunk they also tell him there address and offer him to come over in a few weeks and bring a few friends. What they do not know is this man is part of a gang in which abuse young women and steal the things they own.
The men come round unexpectedly, acting very nice inviting the girls out with them however the girls invite them in.....
Enhancing suspense i will use allot of close ups and contrast between the group of men and the young girls who are unaware of what lies ahead.
I got inspiration for this opening sequence from the film 'Taken'.

Analysis Of Prelim Task
Both filming and acting in this task helped me understand how difficult it was to get things right within each role. The hardest thing i found was acting as i have never been filmed before and at times i would come out of my role, however i have experienced filming before so i understood how to work the camera, and take steady shots.
From similar tasks when coming to use premier pro to edit our sequence i already knew how to work the program with confidence, i.e. when rearranging clips, cutting clips and editing them. Therefore did not take much time.
When filming our clip me and Lia paired up with another two people to help film and act, i feel this helped us with ideas to get out prelim task to be as best as it could be.
The filming was fairly easy, we needed to make sure that we included everything that was asked, i.e. match on action, shot reverse shot, and making sure that we did not break the 180 degree rule.
When editing out sequence we found there were some bits that were unneeded and made the sequence look choppy and unorganised, by taking them out it made our sequence run smoother.

Analysis Of Film Opening- Superbad
Filming:
When filming for my opening sequence i found it very tricky at first to get grips on how to use the camera and making the footage look professional. I felt the first time taking the camera out to have a practice run of the sequence that the footage didn't look that good, and i was not to sure on how to use everything on the camera, however this was good as i wasted less time when coming to shoot the final sequence, for example starting to film, stopping and replaying the footage that had just been filmed.
Before we started to film we looked through the sequence many of time to make sure we knew what we was about to do, also we made a snap shot of photos taken from the opening title sequence of 'superbad' highlighting every main part in the sequence that we needed to remember, for example transitions and dance moves. This helped us to organise the way that we had to do things to not waste as much time. On the other hand we did not finish our whole sequence in colour as we found the application extremely difficult, and we did not expect that everything would take so long. I feel if we didn't plan anything before we began to film then we would have been very behind.
Throughout shooting for our sequence we did not have to worry about weather conditions, or the best location as we only had to record in a studio. However the studio that we used was not ideal as it was a little small, which meant we could not fit in the whole of the actors bodies.
Due to the fact our opening sequence is a dance, the camera had to stay on a fixed stand and be set in the right position, so we did not experience the use of angles and shots thoroughly. Although we did film the same part many of times to get it as close to the real film as possible, due to our actors that we used not acting entirely professional, for example laughing. However our actors were reliable and was considerably patient.

Analysis of film openings
Juno
The camera shoot at the beginning first has a medium close up which straight away introduces the main character, the camera is then in a medium/ long shot as she is walking along the camera is following her horizontally showing Juno from the side which is called a ‘track’. There are many camera angles this shows the audience that the main character is maybe unsettled. There are many following shots and close ups of the main character to engage the audience, also to make the audience see through there eyes there are a few over the shoulder shots. There are also many establishing shots to show the scenery and wide-angle shots.
The composition of the establishing shot makes it clear that this is also a point of view shot. The focus for the viewer, the reunited couple, is not always visible. It is at eye level and makes the viewer feel as if they were in amongst the crowd of people. The shot type mirrors the content of the voiceover; it puts the viewer in the position of Hugh Grant’s character. Other notable camerawork includes a series of tracking mid-shots following a myriad of characters meeting loved ones in the arrivals lounge, this repetition of camerawork positions all these characters on an equal footing. It also allows the viewer to follow them to the point of reunion and, through the use of close-ups share in the emotion.
Analysis of film opening
Juno is a 2007 comedy-drama film, about an independent-minded teenager confronting an unplanned pregnancy and the subsequent events that put pressures of adult life onto her.
The opening of the film starts with Juno in ‘reality’ before she goes for a walk to the shops, as she is walking a backing track starts to play which is called ‘All I Want Is You’, however due to the plot in the film Juno ends up giving her baby up for adoption this brings some irony into the film straight away. The music playing is up beat and fun to listen to and goes to the beat of Juno as she is walking along.
As Juno is walking along she drifts off into her own world and the shots are then presented in a cartoon approach, when the shots are in cartoon she walks behind a tree giving the screen a wipe effect. This makes the viewer feel as if Juno is thinking and going into her own imagination as younger people normally do. From this you can still tell Juno is very young and has little responsibilities, which then shows she would be incapable for a child. The cartoon effect on the opening of the film makes it more interesting to watch as it is presenting the title and names of directors etc, the names are animated as they appear on the screen and the main title flashes different colours, all these animations and colours tell the viewer that Juno is still only young and gives the opening a childish look.
The animation technique is rotoscoping (tracing over live action filming. The technique allows the director to simplify and mute the colours, making it graphically pleasing as well as mundane. The unfinished drawings also build on a concept of an almost incomplete environment.
Some interesting slide and push edits also relate to comic books. Juno’s character is sometimes on the screen in two different shots and this along with her constant presence and dominant framing of her character within the film, this is super imposed. Also throughout the opening there is a repeated time of which runners are shown this my show relevance in to the main film and character, when the runners are shown there are many two shots.

There are many transitions that also change the shots over for example tilt shoots that take the audience in to another perspective and wipes that make the clips and shots change.
loveactually
Analysis of film opening
Analysis of film opening
The opening sequence of Love Actually introduces the theme of the film, love, and not just romantic love but love in all its many forms. The love a parent feels for a child, love between siblings, the love of a family, the love for a life partner, the love you feel for an old friend not seen for years.
The other achievement of the opening sequence is to introduce one of the central characters played by Hugh Grant. Interestingly he is not seen in the sequence, only heard. There is no diegetic sound in the clip only the voiceover and the non-diegetic soundtrack. It is very evocative of love and romance and sets the tone of the film.
The voiceover also successfully introduces the location of the film. The interior used for the opening sequence also gives clues as to the films narrative. Using a set that represents the arrivals hall of Heathrow airport indicates that the film could also be about the transient and chaotic nature of life and relationships in the 21st century. These are themes that are echoed in the narrative of the film.

A notable editing technique used in the opening sequence is the slow motion placed on some of the shots to emphasise actions such as a heartfelt embrace, the playful tossing of a child in the air, and the kiss of two lovers. This again communicates the central theme to the viewer. It is also indicative of the films genre and demonstrates to the viewer that Love Actually is likely to be more romance than comedy.
The Science of Sleep title sequence is very simply constructed. It is an animated sequence following a graph line travelling over old scientific diagrams and connecting title boxes. These title boxes introduce the title of the film and work through the credit list. The typography used matches that of old scientific drawings. There are no cuts in the title sequence: the camera travels with the line over the diagrams. The implication of the aged look of the scientific drawings used in this opening sequence establishes immediately the ambivalence of the film’s title, the “science” of dreams, suggesting that such limited understandings of the past are but obsolete and spurious folly.
The original soundtrack by Jean-Michel Bernard adds to the mood of the opening. At times the simple line movement seems to link to the soft dreamy tone of the music. The linear directionality of the black line stands however in counterpoint to the almost drifting ethereality of the singer, again emphasising the paradoxical nature of the film’s title.
Overall this mise en scene in this title sequence establishes the tone for the film, a dreamy tone, but with the clear message to the viewer to re-evaluate notions of what is real. In the world of the film’s main protagonist surrealistic and naturalistic elements begin to overlap, and the viewer is often uncertain of which portions constitute reality and which are merely dreams.

Opening Sequence And Evaluation
EVALUATION
To make this short clip of London's cityscapes I used Adobe Premiere Pro, it was my first time using the software and I found it very tricky at first, I feel I got used to the software toward the end of my clip however looking at the clip I find I could also improve areas.
Throughout making the clip I learnt several things; of how to import sound track and bring it on to the software, also how to import footage, adding and editing tiles, adding transitions, cutting and editing footage.
Importing a sound track:
To import a sound track to your work you have to go into your work in Premiere Pro then go file import, then find and click on the track you wish to use click import and it will then appear in the back at the side of the screen you can the drag the tack onto the clip that you have made.
Importing the footage:
Adding the footage that i used was imported also from a file and was then in the bank at the side of the screen, i could then drag what footage i choose on to the sequence then rearrange and edit to produce my short clip.
Titles:
I added titles near the beginning and then at the end, i done this by clicking on an icon that was just underneath the bank that looked like a big square with a little square on top, when clicking on this you can name your title and press 'ok', there will then be another screen that appears which you can choose different fonts, colours, and sizes of how you wish your title to look. On this screen there is a smaller version of your project, where you can choose where you would like your title to go and in what position this is then stored in the bank ready for you to drag onto your clips.
Adding transitions:
From adding transitions i feel it made my clips tie together nicely and makes it more interesting. This was very easy to do as there was an effects slide in the bottom left corner under the bank and there you found video transitions among many other folders, from clicking on the folder there was many to chose from when choosing one that suited my clip i dragged it between the clips that i wanted the transition to be between.
Cutting and editing footage:
From the footage we was given i cut the clips to make them fit better with the following clip, this was done by using a tool on the bottom right hand side that is called the razor tool. To use this tool you have to see what part of the clip you wish to cut and click on the area then one side of the clip becomes highlighted and the other side of which you have just marked is not you then decide what part you wish to keep. You then go back to the set of tools and take the normal curser then click for definite on the side you wish to delete and press the delete key on your key board.
I feel my short clip went rather well for the first time of using the application i feel i made the clip interesting, and i feel all the images that i cut and put together went well and followed on from eachother.
If i had to do the task again i would have used a wider range of clips and backing tracks to make my sequences more interesting. Also i did not use any effects as i did not have time, putting in some effects to my work would have made my final clip look better.

Every picture tells a story
These shots were taken of two people planning to meet each other and finally meet. I choose a series of long shots, two person shot, medium shot, and a close up, i feel this made the story board more interesting.
